Annie Burkhart

Annie is a Ph.D. candidate in English at the University of Iowa, where she studies gender and sexuality in Victorian literature and culture. Annie is writing her dissertation, The "New Person": Radical Desire in British Literature, 1880–1930, under a Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship.

As an award-winning English and Rhetoric instructor, Annie's passion lies in helping her students cultivate social justice awareness, analytical savvy, and community engagement inside and outside of the classroom.

Annie was named a 2023 Edwin Ford Piper Memorial Scholar by UI's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. In 2022, Annie received the Council on Teaching's Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

Annie began her amateur music writing career in 2023 and urges you to read her favorite piece of music commentary and listen to her favorite podcast appearance.
